Skål International stands in solidarity with refugees from Ukraine

Europe is in a situation unprecedented in recent decades.

Large number of refugees leaving Ukraine need help. More than one million people have already arrived in the European Union.

Skål International and Skål International Europe appeal to your solidarity and echo the initiative launched by our dear club in Bucharest, a city that has so far received 100,000 refugees from Ukraine, including many children.

Our Skålleagues in Bucharest are on the front line helping. Winter clothing, food, medicine and medical equipment are needed.

Local NGOs are working with groups such as Ajutor Pentru Ucraina, made up of members of Skål International Bucharest and HORA, a local hospitality association. These teams are working hard on all the management necessary to care for all the growing numbers of refugees.

"Ukraine is our neighbour and most Romanians have friends or family on the two sides of the border. When the war started we were in shock. Soon after we saw the first refugees arrive and shock became anger followed by the awareness that we needed to organize ourselves quickly. So, together with HORA, we started working on immediate aid actions, including providing meals”.

We need help to continue to provide this assistance and to be able to face growing numbers of refugees. On behalf of the refugees, we thank all the Skålleagues who are already sending donations and aid", said Florin Tancu, President of Skål International Bucharest.

We can all help.
